When to choose MMS: Use MMS when your image is the main message (e.g., a flyer, coupon, or product photo). If you just need to share a link, stick with SMS — it's 33% cheaper per message.
SMS messages are not sent as one continuous block of text. They are broken into segments by the carrier network, and you are billed per segment. Understanding segments is the key to controlling your costs.
Pro tip: Multi-segment messages use 153 characters per segment (not 160) because 7 characters are used for sequencing headers. So a 161-char message = 2 segments, not 1.
